Welcome to Art at FDES

The art program at Fort Dorchester Elementary is developed around the disciplines of art history, art production, art criticisms, and aesthetics. Students meet on a rotation schedule.
There are three rotations in total. Each student has art for five consecutive school days. Students travel to two other fine arts areas before returning to art.

This year in art we will be using a variety of different media including but not limited to: paints, pencil, chalk, crayon, glue, oil pastels, and clay. Using these and various other materials we will create 2D and 3D work. Your student will create and learn about non-objective, abstract, and realistic art forms while studying various artists and art types.
Students have recently completed a self-portrait unit, and their self-portrait work along with other student artwork is displayed throughout the hallways in what we call Gator Galleries.  Each grade has its' own Gator Gallery to showcase excellent work.  The front hallway features a Gator Gallery of work of all grade levels, and we even have a Faculty Gator Gallery!
The pictures below show our Student Gator Galleries, the faculty Gator Gallery, Student work, and art bulletin board displays.  Check out the work by our awesome gator artists!
